Welcome to the Highwayman’s Haunt, a thirteenth century inn nestling in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside with its rolling hills, farmhouses and stately homes – a view that has hardly changed over the centuries.
Now, under the new ownership of well-known westcountry publicans John Milan and Steve Bellman, this picturesque medieval inn offers good food and drink in a stylish yet traditional setting.
Enjoy a pint at the bar or relax with friends in our comfortable armchairs and or, if you prefer, get cosy in one of our little nooks. You can also dine in the bar, or in the restaurant. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
We are currently developing a new website, but you can see our current menus and offers here. These change regularly, so to keep up with all the latest news you can follow us on Facebook.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
Open 10am – 11pm every day.
Food served every day 12 noon – 9pm.
Our menu changes with the seasons. Click on the links below to see example menus:
Heading from Exeter to Plymouth on the A38 having reached the top of Haldon Hill and having passed the Exeter Racecourse, after 1 1/2 miles take the left slip road signposted Chudleigh B3344. Do not turn off the B3344 until the inn appears on your left (after approximately half a mile).
Heading from Plymouth to Exeter on the A38 take the left slip road signposted Chudleigh B3344 (not Chudleigh Knighton) and turn right on the bridge which takes you over the A38. Continue up and through Chudleigh staying on the B3344. As you leave the boundary of the town after approximately half a mile the Inn will be found on your right.
We do not recommend Sat Nav directions when nearing The Highwayman’s Haunt – you may end up in a nearby farmyard!
